We have overhauled the design of EconTalk. Besides looking fresher with lots of nice graphic stuff, we’ve added some features you’ve been asking for.
You can rate episodes from one to five stars, play an episode at different speeds, and the whole experience should work nicely on your phone.
We’ve also redesigned the parent site, the Library of Economics and Liberty so check that out too.

Where’s your RSS feed?

@John – the RSS feed appears to be HERE
You can find it by viewing the page source, but I too prefer when the link is indicated plainly on a website. Here’s hoping a clear link is added.
Long time listener Russ, great work as always.
[Thanks, Jason. This will be fixed soon. We apologize for the inconvenience. —Econlib Editor]

Just to follow up:
Jason is correct that one of our EconTalk RSS feeds is available at
http://www.econlib.org/econtalk/feed/
We also now have available a variety of other feeds, including a full-text feed. And of course, all of our iTunes/mp3 file listening feeds are still available.
You can now find a list and description of the EconTalk RSS feeds at
http://www.econlib.org/econtalk-faq/rss-feeds-for-econtalk/.

This is a minor point, but either I don’t see the little note about who is on the upcoming show (that used to be on the left margin of the old site) or it’s not there.

Thanks, Michael. We’re looking into that. It may have a different look, but stay tuned. We also release that info on social media.

It’s a good look, and I really appreciate the added functionality. I would love a bit more though. A back button that rewinds 10-30 seconds, and 1.25 speed. I’m sure you thought of these and maybe have your reasons, but I use those functions all the time on my podcast apps

The keyboard space bar works to pause, perhaps the arrow keys could be made to jump 10 seconds.

Thanks, Chase… Great suggestions, and we’ll look into that. (We did add varying listening speeds…) I, too, like “back” buttons. Stay tuned!

Is there a way to get a list of past episodes by date?

Yes! Click on the “Browse Archives” link in the menu… There are drop downs for both month and year: https://www.econlib.org/econtalk-archives-by-date/#content

You’ve totally dropped out of (my) Google search results in the process. Luckily, I am a long lasting fan 😉
‘econtalk’ gives Wiki first, and then certain posts, but not econtalk.org

Request: include the podcast recording date with each podcast.
I believe the recording date was shown with the title and description in the old design, but now it’s not. Some episodes still have the recording date in the “Audio Highlights” (e.g. http://www.econtalk.org/hitchens-on-orwell/), but others do not (e.g. http://www.econtalk.org/weingast-on-violence-power-and-a-theory-of-nearly-everything).
Thanks for your great content!

Hi Nathan, Don’t worry… we are adding the dates back in. Oversight on our part, and should be rectified by next week.

To clarify a bit more: The dates that are being added back in and will accompany all podcast episodes are the release dates. The dates podcast episodes were recorded are transcribed in the Highlights in the last few years’ worth of podcast episodes, but may not have been transcribed for early episodes. Usually episodes are released shortly after recording, but in a few cases there have be a few weeks’ difference.
